Food Services Manager

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Housing Program Director, manages food services for KHAKO, supervises the Kitchen Workers, and ensures that residents in the program are served 3 nutritional meals per day, 365 days per year.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  1. Plans for nutritious meals to be prepared and served to residents of the Central and Lahaina facilities 365 days a year, 3 meals a day while staying within budget constraints.
  2. Supervises the Kitchen Staff, including hiring, training,
  3. Develops and ensures a comprehensive system for receiving, sorting, storing, preparing and distributing fresh, frozen, canned and packaged food for both
  4. Ensures that Community Service and volunteer workers in each facility are trained and supervised in the areas of nutrition, food preparation, serving meals, and kitchen procedures.
  5. Develops and maintains a system of safety and sanitation for all equipment and supplies.
  6. Provides a weekly work schedule incorporating the daily chores of the residents of Central and Lahaina
  7. Picks up supplies from the Food Bank and distributes between the two
  8. Orders supplies of food and sundries from outside approved suppliers, ensuring the best
  9. Maintains and records a computer based system to log incoming supplies, food donations, volunteer assistance and statistics as needed.
  10. Cooks and prepares a variety of nutritious
  11. Coordinates preparation of meals by
  12. Ensures that meals are prepared ahead and stored for use in case of emergency or for times when cook is not .
  13. Provides monthly reports to the Housing Program
  14. Other duties as may be assigned

 

Minimum Education/Training/Experience

Associate degree with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience preferably in an institutional setting. With 1 year of supervisory experience. 

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
